HOST GUIDE:
Plan a Life-Changing Story-Listening Event
Caption
HOST SUGGESTIONS
DATE: set with Tim by clicking here. Or host your own gathering.
PARTICIPANTS: Invite 4-7 people who can:
1.
2. listen and focus on others
3. join in conversation and tell a story (no experience needed)
WEB PAGE: Very important! Participants need to know what this is, our listening emphasis and what stories to bring. Make sure they read 3 pages at: https://relationshipsareallwegot.com/story-listening-event
TIMING: Two to three hours.
ARRIVAL TIME: 15 minutes before stories begin to serve food. All should be present at start time. Late arrivals interrupt stories and miss shared experiences.
VENUE: Place without distractions where conversations are easily heard by participants, but not others. (Your home. Restaurant private room. Mountain-top to which group hikes. Park bench circle to which group bikes.)
FOOD: Meals enhance friendship and conversation. Set up so host stays with group. Potluck is preferred so all contribute, which is what event is about. Chocolate chip cookies not required.
AVOID ALCOHOL & MIND-EFFECTING SUBSTANCES: We want friends to interact as their real selves and in control. Bonus: Being accepted for telling your story as you are is life-changing.
GIFT TO CHARITY: Choose a local charity making a better world through relationships. Encourage participants to bring a gift. We’ll each write encouraging words in a card (Tim provides) and enclose gifts.
